Compliance with New Fire Shutter Regulations
Published: Monday 6 June 2022
We are still receiving feedback that some construction projects are not checking whether fire shutters being installed to the new standards.
As well as fire shutters requiring to be tested to the new testing standards the certification now must include what the shutters are being installed back to.
Awareness of the new fire shutter regulations
It certainly isn’t our role to police this, I believe the problem is that a lot of contractors are still not aware of the new regulations. All I can say is that HVP is compliant and have all the required testing and certification whether your projects need fire shutters for masonry, structural steel, or timber stud.
National Regulator for Construction Products
There is also a new National Regulator for Construction Products who will have the remit to deal with any non-compliance and CE marking/CPR anomalies on a retrospective.
As well as fire shutters requiring to be tested to the new testing standards the certification now must include what the shutters are being installed back to.
Don’t be caught out, make sure you use a company that installs and can certify to the new regulations.
